EXECUTIVE BOARD (2012/2013)

President: Steve Crozier

Steve was born in Kingston, Ontario, and moved to Vancouver after high school to attend Simon Fraser University, where he majored in Political Science.  After completing his degree, he moved to Toronto to follow a career in law, working in a prominent intellectual property law firm.  Unsatisfied with the field, he began searching for a more fulfilling career path, discovering an interest in Human Resources.  Now working towards his CHRP designation, Steve particularly enjoys studying corporate labour policy and recruitment.  In his spare time, he plays ultimate Frisbee, cycles, and plays volleyball.   Steve is very excited to be back at BCIT for the 2012/13 school year, to meet his new HR colleagues, and to have some fun amidst the hard work.

 Vice President: Anca Aroneanu

Anca Aroneanu is passionate about people. She wants to apply her psychology background to business by implementing employee retention programs. Anca returned to school after being in the workforce for 5 years and is excited for what the next school year has to bring.

VP of Finance: Wendy Pat Fong

Originally from Mauritius, Wendy Pat Fong came to Vancouver to pursue a BA in Psychology and Human Development. After graduation, she developed an interest in recruiting and training; hence decided to go into Human Resources Management. Working towards her CHRP, Wendy looks forward to gaining work experience in the HR field.

VP of Events: Lindsay Winder

After pursuing an education at Capilano University, Lindsay was disenchanted with her lack of direction. Realizing her passion for Human Resources, she couldn't be happier to be at an amazing institution such as BCIT. As VP of Events, her goal is to bring a positive influence to the HRA team and help organize memorable events that add value for students both personally and professionally. 

 VP of Marketing: Marina English

Marina came to BCIT with a background in human kinetics. She has a passion for health and wellness, but wasn't fully satisfied with that career path. Having always been interested in how companies treat and manage employees, she discovered the exciting field of human resources and soon began at BCIT. She hopes to incorporate her knowledge of human kinetics and human resources through workplace wellness, but is also interested in pursuing a career that involves employee engagement, performance management, and recruiting. 

First Year Representative: Dania Fawaz

After attending high school in The Netherlands, Dania moved to Vancouver to pursue a BA in Psychology and Sociology at The University of British Columbia. She took a year off to explore the field of Human Resources, completing an HR internship with a focus on Resourcing and Recruitment. She is excited to be part of the HRA this year and looks forward to being involved with the BCIT community while she completes her HR diploma.

Second Year/PD Representative Set A: Kathy Ho

Kathy is a UBC graduate with a degree in Psychology who has decided to return to school after floating around in the workforce for the past 4 years.  After coming into contact with an amazing HR department during a short career in banking, she decided that HR was her calling.  She is excited to be a part of the HRA team and is looking forward to an amazing experience at BCIT.

Second Year/PD Representative Set B: Vinnie Liu

Vinnie dabbled in business courses at Capilano U before realizing she wanted something more. After taking a year off to do a diploma in makeup artistry and another year off to work, she decided it was time to go to BCIT. Always wanting to be in business, Human Resources seemed like the best fit to her skills and personality. She looks forward to combining her passion for beauty with her interest in HR, hopefully working in recruitment or training and development for her favourite cosmetic company.

FACULTY ADVISORS

Debby Cleveland - Program Head, Human Resources Management Diploma/Post-Diploma

Debby Cleveland is a dedicated HR professional with over 25 years experience as a Human Resources Manager, Consultant, Educator and Trainer. She is currently the Program Head for Human Resource Management at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) where she also teaches in the areas of Competency Based HRM, Job Analysis, Performance Management and Recruitment and Selection.
